TELL US WHAT YOU THINK

We welcome your views and questions.

The figures I make are the creatures I see from the corner of my minds eye. I am inspired by the beauty of animals and draw on their characteristics of strength and vulnerability. I also love objects from our collective past, that tell us something about our evolving views of our place in the natural world. Marrying the two together I am interested in the meeting point between nature and culture. I use clay, and especially porcelain despite and because of the cultural and material baggage and challenges it holds. My coiled and pinched forms are given textural detail using relief and incising. It's a precise and labor intensive process that works with the contrastingly immediate and instinctive way the images first come to mind. Pinning down these fleeting thoughts I hope to capture the uncanny, guarding the ambiguity of my work I invite a personal response.
